I've tried installing ircd-hybrid on freebsd. First from ports, later
direct from source.

It does run, it just doesn't want to listen to an IPv4 port.

First I tried 0.7.2 from /usr/ports/irc/ircd-hybrid

Then I tried 0.7.3 from the ircd-hybrid download site.

What I get when configuring a port to listen on is the following in the
log:

[2005/4/14 15.49] opening listener socket [10.42.2.48/6150]:Protocol not
supported

The version of freebsd is:

FreeBSD idefix 5.3-RELEASE-p6 FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE-p6 #1: Mon Apr 11
21:20:31 CEST 2005 bofh at master.idefix.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/IDEFIX
i386

the 'special' thing is that this will be running in a jail which may be the
source of problems. I'd really like it to work in the jail environment
because of the hosting choice.

Extra info available if needed.
