Couldn't look up your hostname delay

Greetings,

I am new to running an IRC server. I have noticed on my personal server 
there is a relatively long delay after the server displays the message 
"Couldn't look up your hostname" compared to the practically 
unnoticeable delay when I connect to irc.debian.org. Is there a setting 
to speed up the login, specifically at this point or any other?
