help hybrid with hybserv

I currently have setup hybrid with hybserv running on Mac OS X  
Tiger.  After running it for a few days I want to change nicklen to  
20 and topiclen to 200.  I recompiled and installed with these  
options.  Next i just copied over my ircd.conf to the new install.   
Now when I got to run the server ircd starts up but then shuts down  
after a few seconds.  What do I need to change in ircd.conf?  Any  
help will be great.
