Old?  How?  FreeBSD is worked on constantly and is one of the most 
stable and worthy platforms to use.  To state the opinion that it 
doesn't work because it's old is moronic.  I run FreeBSD 5.3 and it does 
encrypted passwords just fine.  Let's get back to reality here.
