I get :
telnet localhost 6667
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
:basin.cse.lehigh.edu NOTICE AUTH :*** Looking up your hostname...
:basin.cse.lehigh.edu NOTICE AUTH :*** Checking Ident
:basin.cse.lehigh.edu NOTICE AUTH :*** No Ident response
:basin.cse.lehigh.edu NOTICE AUTH :*** Couldn't look up your hostname
but I definatly can't connect remotely and I /think/ I set it to listen on
0.0.0.0 at least i set that in what I though was the relevant section of the
config.
again thank you everyone for being so patient with me
