Host masking/Cloaking

I don't understand, why does everyone want hostmasking? Isn't the spoof feature good enough? But anyways, I have a patch that can do that, but it is extremely out of date and it wont apply cleanly anymore. I am not sure if it even work anymore, but if you want, I can send it to the list and you can take a look and see if you can code one up, but I'm not going to :)
